A Sneak Peek Into My Tuscan Travel Plans

I have a bit of an exciting announcement, I’m off to Tuscany next week! It’s sort of for work, and also a much needed holiday. I’m desperate to switch off for a bit, and what better place to find peace and relaxation than the Tuscan countryside?

Thanks to To Tuscany, we get to stay in the most beautiful villa which is nestled amongst Tuscany’s rolling hills. Our private apartment is in Lecchi in Chianti, which is about 45 minutes from Siena. I can’t wait to stand on the balcony, take in the traditional Tuscan views, and appreciate the exquisiteness of this stunning Italian region. I mean, just feast your eyes on this adorable apartment for a moment. I may end up squatting there, because, why would I ever want to leave this place?

My partner and I have been dying to go to Italy for years, and now our wish is finally coming true, and yes, I have some uber romantic things planned, because Tuscany is basically the home of romance. I thought I would share some of my super exciting travel plans with you, mainly because I have a hell of a trip planned.

I literally could not be more excited. I won’t share everything with you, you will have to wait til I get back to see what amazing adventures I got up to. Plus, I want to see all of Tuscany, which is clearly not going to be possible in a week. So some of the things mentioned below may not happen. Here’s some of the most exciting things I have planned…

Wine tasting

Err soz but I can’t go to Tuscany without going wine tasting. To Tuscany have sorted a wine tasting afternoon for us at a farm in the heart of Chianti Classico. I’m a red wine lover (not the alcoholic kind), and Tuscany is famous for its world class reds, so, it’s a match made in heaven.

I also tend to sprinkle olive oil on most of my food, so the fact that you also get to sample some of the olive oil that’s made on site is obviously a massive bonus. I will no doubt be bringing as much home with me as my suitcase will fit (only got hand baggage, so sadly not a lot). We can walk from the farm back to our villa, which means we can knock back a fair few glasses of vino without having to worry about driving.

Private chef

This is also something I have booked, so it’s definitely happening. I literally cannot imagine anthing better than chilling in our Tuscan villa and drinking local wine, whilst a real life Tuscan chef cooks fresh local food in front of our eyes. We will be wined and dined by Andrea, who gave us a wonderful menu to choose from.

I will have the pleasure of tasting a traditional Tuscan starter (including yummy local pecorino cheese), ravioli, chicken cooked in Chianti wine (come to mumma) white beans, and Portuguese milk. The menu includes a starter, first course, second course, side dish and pudding. It’s safe to say we will be stuffed full of Tuscan delights.

Hot springs

A lot of people don’t realise that Tuscany has a lot of natural hot springs and plenty of spas. I intend to bathe in the soothing warm waters and take in the beautiful surroundings, whilst maybe getting a cheeky cuddle from my man. #bliss

I bloody adore spas, but sadly don’t have the time or money to indulge as often as I would like. So I’m obviously going to take full advantage of the natural pools in the middle of the woods. Apparently there aren’t any facilities or showers, they are literally just warm natural pools you can take a dip in.

However, I think that adds to the charm, and I’m happy to act like Tarzan and Jane for the day. There’s hot springs all over Tuscany, the most famous being Saturnia (Google it, it looks amaze), but that’s too far for us, so we will be taking a dip in the springs at San Filippo.

Medieval hilltop towns

Radda in Chianti

I just love holiday destinations with character and Tuscany is blessed with plenty of intriguing and dreamy hilltop towns. There are so many I want to visit including Lucca, San Gigmignano, Radda, Montepulciano and Pienza. We do plan on spending a day in Florence and also Siena, because we can’t go to Tuscany without seeing both these cities, but I have a sneaky suspicion that one of the hilltop towns will be the highlight of our trip.

So that’s our rough plan. I will share a lot more details when I return. Oh and I may not be very active on the blogging front next week for obvious reasons. I plan to have a bit of a digital detox. If you fancy a trip to Tuscany after reading this article, have a chat with the lovely people over at To Tuscany, they will sort you out with a luxurious private Tuscan villa.
