Why Reflexology Is The Most Heavenly Thing On Earth

The benefits of reflexology helps relieve anxiety

I am writing this post for those who have never tried reflexology. I beg you, give it a go. It’s pretty darn awesome and lovely and dreamy. It may not be the bee’s knees for everyone, but a lot of people find it extremely beneficial.

For me personally, it’s one of the only things that can truly relax me. I sink into a soothing state of pure relaxation, and the feeling I get from reflexology is heavenly. I wish I could do it more often.

Why did I try reflexology? I initially gave it a go to help with my anxiety. I used it as a way to calm the storm, and give my mind and body some much needed time out from a fast paced world that never stops.

Reflexology has all sorts of benefits, and for me the mental benefits were perhaps more important than the physical ones. Some of the benefits of reflexology include:

  • Boosts your circulation
  • Helps increase energy
  • Puts you into a state of deep relaxation
  • Stimulates the central nervous system
  • Can help with sleep disorders/anxiety/stress/depression/IBS
  • Relieves pain
  • Helps remove toxins from the body
  • Speeds healing

When I lie on the gently heated massage table, I can literally feel the stress and negative energy leaving my body. It floats away into the atmosphere and I end the session feeling like I am gliding through the air. You also get some very strange sensations during reflexology, such as tingling and a real sense of release.

It’s quite amazing when the therapist touches a certain part of your foot and you feel energy or pain in another part of your body. Everything is connected, your body is like a huge puzzle, and reflexology experts are able to connect the pieces of the puzzle, to make you feel whole again.

These are my personal thoughts and waffles on reflexology, now here’s an explanation by an expert. Sue McMullen of Indulgence Treatments talks below about what reflexology is, what it does and it’s main benefits for those who don’t know much about it. Sue is a wonderful therapist, who most definitely has magic hands. She makes you feel comfortable and tailors your treatment specifically to your needs.

Here’s what Sue has to say about Reflexology:

‘Reflexology allows relaxation and rejuvenation. It’s a non-intrusive complementary health therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet correspond with different areas of the body.

Varying degrees of pressure are used to provide both physical and emotional benefits. Reflexology can be amazingly relaxing and promotes a feeling of wellbeing.  Often clients are very surprised that it induces such relaxation to the point that many fall asleep.

The demands that are put on us in our busy lives can lead us to experience stress, anxiety, insomnia and feel that life is a treadmill that we are constantly fighting.  By giving ourselves some  “Me time” and experiencing a Reflexology session in just one hour we can start to return the balance.

With regular sessions clients can experience an enormous improvement in their stress levels helping to relieve anxiety, promoting sleep and generally enjoying life more…Do give it a try you could be reaping the benefits of your first Reflexology treatment.’

Now go and book yourself a cheeky reflexology appointment and start 2016 off in the best way….It’s about time you had some time for yourself.

p.s Yes that is my foot in the main picture. I lead a double life as a foot model ;-)
