Sleepless nights on a squishy, thin mattress are now a thing of the past. I’m now looking forward to climbing into bed each night, instead of wondering how long it’s going to take me to get comfortable. I honestly don’t know why it’s taken me so much time to buy a decent, comfy mattress.
My husband and I have been together for seven years. In that time we’ve treated ourselves to a new mattress once, but you could hardly call it a ‘mattress’. It was a cheap £150 paper thin memory foam double mattress from Dunelm Mill. We only bought it as a temporary thing. But you know how it goes, you think you’ve got more important things to buy and save for. But, let’s be honest folks. What’s more important than decent sleep?
Poor quality sleep ruins us in so many ways – both physically and mentally. Not sleeping well because you’re sleeping on a painfully cheap mattress will eventually take its toll. Well, in our situation, I eventually got fed up of my husband moaning about how many aches and pains he had. The problem was, we just couldn’t decide what mattress to buy? Which are the best mattresses? There are so many different types and companies claiming their mattress is XYZ that we had no idea where to start.
Thankfully, fate intervened. We stayed in an Airbnb and when we woke up in the morning, we both agreed that the mattress, was ahhhmazing and uber comfortable. My husband is quite a big guy (don’t tell him I said that or his head will explode), and I’m a lot shorter and (hopefully) lighter than him. So we often completely disagree on mattresses, with him favouring the harder ones because he doesn’t sink in quite so much. But we LOVED this one.
And the best thing was, we’d got to test it out so we knew we would like it. It’s quite risky buying a mattress you’ve never slept on based purely on reviews. Sure, 968373 people might love it, but when it comes to what we find comfy in a mattress, we’re all so different. You wouldn’t buy a car without test driving it would you? Or maybe you would. But for me, I need the reassurance.
We asked the owner of the Airbnb where the mattress was from and she said it was a Time4Sleep Memory Pocket 2000 Mattress. So we looked it up, and as soon as we got home, we ordered it. I also checked a few reviews before ordering and found this article which proved to me that the mattress was still comfy six months on. Winner.
Sleep Sanctuary Time4Sleep Memory Pocket 2000 mattress review
We’ve had our new mattress for about three months now. And I’m so pleased with it. Maybe you are trying to choose between pocket sprung or memory foam? Well, why choose when you can have both?
It has 50mm of viscoelastic Blue Cool Memory foam on top, and 2000 barrel-shaped pocketed springs underneath that. Blue Cool Memory Foam is recommended by back experts and it helps to keep you cool. We got the mattress in the height of the summer, so it was a massive relief to finally have a cooling mattress to make the very hot nights more bearable.
I like how it adapts to your body but still has a firm feel to it. I need a bed with a bit of give otherwise my shoulders and hips hurt if they can’t sink in at all. It’s soooo nice having a king size bed after making do with a double for so long. I also love this mattress because of how thick it is and how high it is off the ground. I’m not a fan of beds that are really low to the ground, as you don’t really feel like you’re ‘getting into bed’. It’s sturdy, strong and thick and looks as though it will stand the test of time.
The service was spot on from start to finish, and the mattress came a lot quicker than expected. We could choose our delivery day and the whole process was made clear throughout.
Oh and the best part about this mattress? It’s a great value mattress that’s under £400 for a king size. If I’d known I could get one that’s this comfy, I’d have treated myself a long time ago. It’s literally heavenly.
