Today, thanks to the joys of being freelance, I was able to hop on the train to London and meet some of my besties. We met for brunch at The Breakfast Club in Clapham first. I had a breakfast burrito, which was very satisfying. Then we stumbled upon a cafe on our way back to the train station called 2 Love Tea & Coffee House, and we certainly weren’t disappointed.
There’s loads of fresh coffee for the coffee lovers out there (I don’t drink coffee, soz), plus a mouthwatering selection of cakes. I had a hot chocolate which was lovely, and we shared a red velvet cake between three of us (clearly an error).
I have tried to reduce my sugar intake over the last few years, which has resulted in me not enjoying very sweet things as much as I used to. However, I certainly didn’t regret indulging in this red velvet cake. I can honestly say it was one of the best slices of cake I have ever tasted.
It was so moist, full of flavour and most importantly, not too sweet. The icing literally melted in my mouth. It proved very difficult to share as we were all trying to scoff it down as quickly as we could.
It’s difficult to savour the moment when two other people are eating from the same dish! Just thinking about it now is making me want to go back to Clapham tomorrow just to have more cake (not good for the diet).
Our other friend had a pumpkin cake which she also very much enjoyed. Anywho, I just felt compelled to mention what a ridiculously delish that cake was. I recommend if you are in Clapham Junction you give it a try.
The coffee shop is about five minutes’ walk from the station. It’s also a nifty little place for freelancers to work, there were quite a few people typing away on their laptops.
Just a short and sweet post for you guys to brighten up your Monday with cake related dreams. Over and out.
