There is something quite special about waking up in a lodge-style cabin to find yourself surrounded by picturesque mountains and lush greenery. In the distance, birds sing, and local wildlife thrives in the tranquillity.
The views from the private terrace make for the perfect spot to take a seat and bask in the all-natural wonders. With a freshly brewed Café Noisette and a buttery croissant in hand, you can take in the incredible mountain scenery sitting on your private desk chairs. Tasty and peaceful..
If you’re worried the noise from the bustling town might disturb the ambience, don’t be. While you are close to the centre for the convenience of travel links and trinket shopping, Les Mazots Des Fées is situated in the perfect location to still allow you to be fully immersed in nature. You’ll hear birds singing instead of traffic jams, you’ll smell wood from the trees instead of vehicle fumes, and you’ll see plenty of happy smiles from your family and friends when you see the accommodation. Wow!
My family and I stayed in the gorgeous Aline chalet. It boasted two levels, unique wooden interiors, plenty of modern alpine decor, and sliding glass doors opening right out into the mountains. Out there, we took full advantage of the deck chairs and table, watching the sunrise as we drank our coffee each morning. This was absolutely one of our shared favourite moments of the trip.

Charm and character inside, and out of our private chalet
The Aline chalet really was breathtaking, both inside and out. From the outside, the chalet looked exactly how you’d expect. Large wooden beams, traditional triangle-peaked roofs, and endless charm and character. Plus, if you stay during the winter seasons, a blanket of snow would make it even more magical.
Once we walked through the door, the amazement didn’t falter. It felt like we’d just booked a stay in our very own private nest. The walls, floors, and many furnishings were all adorned in wood, but the abundance of light still made the space warm and inviting.
Our chalet was split into two levels, with each floor boasting a sizable bedroom and bathroom. Every room was spotlessly clean. The beds were comfy, and the doors that opened onto the mountains not only provided views but plenty of natural light. The blend of lodge-style decor and modern accents give each room a unique style.
Some rooms feature walls with tiles or stone, while others have standout sculptures. As the Aline chalet was two floors, there was a stone staircase. The downside was that it was a bit difficult with young children, and perhaps not best suited if you have mobility issues, as they were solid stone. So unique, yes. Practical? Maybe not for everyone.

Located just outside of Morzine
As I mentioned before, if you’re worried that your peace might get disrupted, then there’s nothing to worry about. It’s outside of Morzine, so completely away from the sometimes busy town. It’s still close enough to explore and for shopping, but really, the location is for anyone looking to get away from it all and fully embrace the serene, peaceful rhythm of mountain life, where the pace is slow but the enjoyment is endless.
What a breakfast!
Let’s be honest, I know it’s not just me that’s been lured in by Michelin-star-worthy pictures of breakfasts on hotel websites, only to feel a little let down when my plate is placed in front of me and the two don’t look at all the same. That, thankfully, was not the case this time around!
We thought the breakfast was lovely. There was so much choice. The bread was scrumptious. A great selection of baked pastries, fresh fruit and eggs. Breakfast could be enjoyed in the restaurant, in your private room or outside next to the mountains, alfresco.
Mmmm, is the thought of a warm pain au chocolat and fresh orange juice making you hungry too?

Summer or winter breaks in Morzine
Fancy going skiing? Or maybe you’d prefer an outdoor soak instead? This hotel has plenty to keep you occupied. For anyone who does enjoy skiing, or fancies their hand at something new, the hotel has ski-rental services for your convenience, and there’s a cheeky 25-30% discount for pre-booking. But you don’t have to be interested in skiing to enjoy this hotel. The location itself, for many people, offers plenty of enjoyment. You can wander around taking scenic photos, hunt down the outdoor jacuzzi for a dip amongst the greenery, play a game of pool or feast on a locally curated charcuterie where you can sample local foods between sips of French wine.
For families with young children, there is plenty of outdoor space for youngsters to run around and explore. It won’t take them long to find the gardeners where a children’s playground awaits that perfectly complements the natural backdrop, thanks to its thoughtful, log-style appearance. There are also plenty of board games that the whole family can enjoy in the communal breakfast area, but you might want to bring your favourites with you to enjoy when you head back to your room.
Feel like booking a much-needed break at Les Mazots Des Fées yourself? You can browse all their accommodations on their website. They’ve got plenty of private Mazots and rooms to choose from, each boasting its own unique take on alpine style, fusing modern comforts with thoughtfully designed furnishings.
