I’m Off On An Incredible Trip To Morocco Tomorrow…

So I didn’t have time to post this before I went away, but I think it’s still worth posting to see how my initial thoughts on Morocco compared to the reality…

Yup, you heard me correctly. In a matter of hours, I will be hopping onto a plane and making my way towards Africa. Thanks to The Holiday Place, I’m off on another travel writer trip. My sister, who will be my photographer for the trip is coming with me. Watch out Morrocco, the Nowak sisters are en route.

I didn’t exactly have plans to go to Morocco anytime soon, but then fate dealt me an interesting hand. My little sis, who is a rather talented artist and photographer, dropped me an email saying she was booking flights to Morocco, and I called her up right away saying I absolutely have to join her. And now I’ve been researching my trip, which is very, very last minute, I’m itching to get out there and immerse myself in this fascinating country.

We’re off to Marrakesh first, a place full of intriguing sounds, sights and smells. The market stalls are bursting with colours and interesting crafts, there’s a delightful culinary scene packed with vibrant flavours, and plenty of cultural gems to unearth. I’m looking forward to having a fresh mint tea at a rooftop cafe and gazing out to see what the city holds.

We’ve got a private city tour planned, which will give us a real insight into how this place works and the best things to see and do. Plus, we won’t get lost in the souks or caught up by street sellers quite so much (I hope!). Oh and I’d love to try a hammam spa, which sounds unusual. It’s apparently an Arabian body treatment involving steam and cleansing black soap. I’ll let you know what it’s like.

I can’t wait to eat out in the restaurants and try the street food in the souks. I imagine my taste buds will be very pleased with what’s on offer. I’m all about sampling the food in every destination I visit, it’s probably one of the things I get most excited about, and Morocco is no exception.

After exploring everything Marrakech has to offer, we will head to Agadir for a bit of a beach break. I’m well up for some rest and relaxation, I’ve definitely been working my ass off lately, and my poor little writer brain needs a decent break.

There will be no typing for me. Although, I have channeled my inner geek and bought a dictaphone watch so that I can record all my thoughts. I want to pick up on every detail, every moment and every experience. My post when I get back is going to be pretty epic. I don’t care if I look like an idiot speaking into my watch, I’m all about the creativity.

Whilst in Agadir we are hoping to go on a couple of excursions, including a camel ride in the desert and a trip to the Atlas Mountains. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we go to the Atlas Mountains because everybody has told me how amazing they are.

We’re staying in three different four star hotels, the two in Agadir are just metres from the beach. I’ve stocked up on some lush swimwear and I can’t wait to put my feet up on a sun lounger and sip on a nice cool cocktail. I think this holiday is going to be the perfect combination of beach vs city and action vs relaxation. I can’t write as much as I’d hoped about my trip, because it’s all been a bit manic planning it, and well, I need to pack! Expect a full write up when I get back. Watch this space!
