Travel Content Writer

If you are after top UK travel content writer that is a cut above the rest then you’ve come to the right place. It seems I have a talented for transporting people to the places that I describe.

I tell stories, I share ideas and I help people to imagine moments they might be able to experience. This isn’t your run of the mill travel content.

You can hire a travel journalist, but what travel companies really need is someone who can write in a way that their readers relate to. Someone who has a background in digital marketing and communicating with online audiences, and that person is me.

My travel writing background

Before going freelance I worked in SEO, content marketing and digital marketing for over five years. I was previously the Head of SEO for a major travel brand. I was responsible for all their destination campaigns, social media, video marketing and content across the sit.

I also worked agency side where I managed travel clients like Thomson Flights, Cheapflights, Hotels.com and BlueBay Hotels. So I know a thing or two about how the travel industry works.

Since going freelance I have written for all sorts of travel brands, from small startups to multinational brands.

I particularly love writing about eco travel, adventure travel and the world’s culinary delights (a.k.a food travel). Some travel companies I currently write for include The Holiday Place, Eco Companion and Travel Unwrapped.

Why choose me?

I believe I truly am the best at what I do, for a number of reasons. I write travel content that people actually want to read. People take something away from my content, whether it’s an invaluable tip, a beautiful moment or a sense of excitement about where they are going to travel next.

Most importantly, my content isn’t boring. It’s got personality. When you read it you will feel like you’re chatting to a friend. Too much travel content is sales focused and not tailored to the appropriate audience. I can help you create personas, define your voice as a travel brand, and speak to your audience in a way that they want to be spoken to.

If you want to get an idea of how I write, take a look at the examples listed below, or have a peruse of my lovely blog, which truly reflects how I like to write and address my audience.

How will my travel content benefit you?

It will engage your audience in a new way, inspire and encourage people to keep coming back. Expect increased time on page, because your audience will actually read nearly every word, because to me, every word counts.

You will also gain an increase in natural search traffic and conversions as a result of my copy. If you’re going to compete with all the other travel companies out there, your content needs to pack a punch.

Why so many travel companies churn out sub-par standard copy across their websites and blogs is a mystery to me. You are selling a place, an experience and a holiday. People want to know what it feels like to be there, and this can only be done by creating engaging content.

Travel writer/blogger travel trips

Some of my clients have been so pleased with my copy that they have sent me to exotic destinations to describe a destination my way, in my own words. Most recently I’ve been to the Dominican Republic with The Holiday Place, and Tuscany with To Tuscany. As well as blog posts, I also produce a GoPro video compilation of my trips. I’m no video editing expert, but what I produce has a very real, honest appeal to it.

I’m always on the lookout for new travel opportunities and trips. So if you think I’m the perfect fit, and you want an independent travel writer, don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss how we might be able to work together.

My specialities

I’m extremely active, so I like to go on any trips that will test me physically as well as mentally. Walking, hiking, swimming, water-skiing, zip lining, you name it, I’ve done it.

I’m also a massive foodie, so much so that I usually choose my travel destinations based on the type of food on offer. I think the flavour of a travel destination is as much about the food as it is about the culture.

I’d love to hear from eco/sustainable travel companies that offer something unique and different. I’d rather stay in a rustic treehouse in the jungle than a five-star hotel complex.

I enjoy going on travel adventures with my family, which includes my two huskies. So I’m naturally an expert on how to travel around Europe with your pooches. If I’m travelling around Europe by car, I’d like to take my canine companions with me and stay in dog friendly hotels.

As you can see from my blog, I am all for holidays that improve your mental wellbeing. My blog is about how you can truly be happy, and I believe travel is an enormous part of that. Recently I’ve got into meditation and yoga, and I plan to go on some sort of retreat somewhere soon.

Lastly, having completed a degree in Sociology, I’m interested in any destinations where I can delve deeper into the depths of society, traditions, dark history and group behaviour.
